The Scoop...
From baking to big timeBack in 1959, $100 went a long way for Fletcher Jones and Roy Nutt. They started Computer Services Corporation (CSC) in a small office above a bakery on that small amount and soon earned a contract from Honeywell. Growing into the first computer services company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange, CSC is now a global multibillion dollar company recognized as a world leader in management consulting, information systems consulting and integration, and outsourcing. The company has identified two key factors for this success: dedication to client satisfaction and an aggressive acquisition program. The CSC client roster includes both commercial markets - most notably aerospace, chemical and energy, credit services, financial services, health care and the government. CSC boasts, among its competency areas, clients from Merrill Lynch to the U.S. Air Force to DuPont and Saturn Corporation. More than 75 percent of these clients are repeat customers, some with established relationships of over 30 years with CSC. An original reorganizes But CSC is no longer the only tech-savvy consultant on the block. After a lengthy analysis, in 1999 CSC settled on a new organization system with three primary service delivery channels: vertical business units arranged by industry, horizontal service organizations and geographic locations. In March 2000, CSC formed a business unit to provide web site hosting and online applications to corporate and government customers. Now CSC is better-positioned to offer its consulting services in business strategy, operations, change management and information technology, helping clients achieve breakthroughs in operating and financial performance. In addition to outsourcing services, CSC provides integrated and specialized systems services for the financial services, health care and chemical and energy industries. CSC has put its bets on its aggressive migration - to the tune of $700 million for the fiscal year ending in March 2000 - towards e-business consulting.
